I was so surprised to find out the facts of this famous ladys life. From a precocious child who yearned to be an actress, to the stage of the Grand Ole Opry Sarah Ophelia Colley Cannon, aka Minnie Pearl, became one of the most loved, recognized and respected comedienne in the world. Brought up in a genteel household in the days when life was simpler, Sarah and her sisters had an idyllic life. What a great book about a great lady. I never got to see her perform at the Opry, wish I would have. She led a very interesting life.
If your a country music fan you should read this book. I remember watching Minnie on the Hee Haw show with my dad and she was always so funny. But to hear her dreams and how she was brought up is just fascinating. This is how all country music celebrities should act, some have alot to learn from the old timers...Grinder's Switch would be so proud of her...
Life was so simple growing up 100 years ago. Playing outside and no electronics. I wonder if all we have now is worth it.
