Brought up in a genteel household in the days when life was simpler, Sarah and her sisters had an idyllic life. When the Great Depression hit that life changed monetarily, but the house was always filled with love. This book is about a strong family with good values, who remained close, even when the children were gone. I found the book fascinating as Minnie Pearl told it all, from her growing up years, her thoughts that she was ugly, her dreams of Broadway smashed to smithereens, and her journey to becoming something totally different. I think whether or not you are a country music fan you'll enjoy reading this. Very well written and full of facts and pictures.

If your a country music fan you should read this book. I remember watching Minnie on the Hee Haw show with my dad and she was always so funny. But to hear her dreams and how she was brought up is just fascinating. This is how all country music celebrities should act, some have alot to learn from the old timers...Grinder's Switch would be so proud of her...
