I pick up this book at a thrift store because multiple personalities have always intrigued me. This gives you a new insight to the disorder in a time when people didn't really understand it. I absolutely loved this book and learning what it's really like from a first person point of view to have multiple people in your head is very intuitive. It's a good shorter read for those who want to know more about how our mind works and how to overcome huge obstacles in a life that isn't normal.
This was an interesting and sad tale of a fellow whose childhood abuse led to a split into different personalities. His family's history as well as his own were interesting, and the story of how his disorder harmed him and his family was sad....I wish more focus had been placed on his treatment and the HOW of his recovery. A typical book (in style) of its time.
I just came across a mention of this book today. Read it when I was 13. It was really intriguing. I wonder how it holds up today, and how it might be written today with a better understanding of "multiple personality disorder".
This was a GREAT book. If you're interested in how the mind works and multiple personalities, you won't be disappointed with this book. I read this book at least four times, it's so good!
