Lena Winfrey Seder grew up with a loving Christian family in the Virginia countryside. As a shy young woman, she sought to expand her horizons and fly, like a butterfly. At first, her focus was on worldly success and fame, but when she found herself unable to obtain satisfactory answers to her doubts about religious traditions, she began a spiritual quest for the truth. She emerged from her cocoon with Islam by her side, to guide her in her life and travels.
In this autobiographical account, the author uses a series of flashbacks to weave back and forth among important events and places in her life, before and after she embraced Islam. She explains what attracted her to Islam and describes the effects of her choice on key relationships in her life. Her narration is laced with personal anecdotes and heart-felt advice about being patient in the face of adversity. Her experiences are woven together to create more than just a simple narrative; this is a unique account of
the Metamorphosis of a Muslim.

This book is more of a memoir and an autobiographical account of the Author's life. It is very different than any other revert's story. It talks how the Author (Lena Winfrey) journey through Islam and an account of her struggles which she endured following this path. A uniquely written book which I recommend for all my non-Muslim friends and also the Muslims who take Islam so forgranted. The author is an amazing storyteller. More to be expected from her in near future.
A beautifully written, heartfelt and personal story of one person's search for truth and peace, and their interpretation of that journey.
The author has been fortunate enough to travel extensively, and she easily weaves those visits into her tale.
I think this is my favorite quote from the author:
"True civilization and advancement do not come from technology and money but from character, morality and how we deal with others."
Highly recommended!
I was completely enthralled with this book! I loved hearing about Lena's conversion from Christianity to Muslim. Filled with stories of her conversion as well as her past, this book grabbed my attention and never let go. I found some very interesting things in this book. I am glad I read it and I would reread it a million times!

This is an autobiography that is simply told through flashback style as if one were having a cup of coffee with an entertaining story. The concentration is more on the spiritual quest than the life story with some anecdotes from Ms. Seder's world travels through Africa, the Middle East and Asia. At the end, she leaves the reader with the dream of cooperation and world peace among all religions.
