The story is about Lionel Blue’s life as a gay Jewish rabbi- how he managed his desires to know God in various religions, specifically in Judaism regardless of his struggle for coming out in the open. To find himself, he hitchhiked to “heaven” in some European cities, particularly in Amsterdam- not in a literal meaning of the geographical place. Lionel blue - a 'household name' according to the synopsis on here. I had never heard of him. I requested this thru listening books organisation. It is a Jewish man's journey and exploration through religion and spirituality, sexuality, exploration and acceptance. He learns more about the Christian faith and talks to people from different backgrounds, becomes a rabbi, eventually accepts his homosexuality and gets married in the Netherlands and travels a bit.
