Because his adult life is so intertwined with early LDS church history, it's a treasure of information, insights and faith.

What a man, what a book. His writing was impressive and his work even more so. His untiring work in preaching the Gospel is an inspiration although it is tinged with the apparent neglect of his presence with his family. He appeared to be the man who would willingly go where and when the Church required his services throughout his life.
