Injury forced a premature end to his career at 32, after spells with Manchester City, Bristol City, and Norwich. Then he became the manager who fell of the back of a lorry when joining Oldham in 1982.

Nothing spectacular here unfortunately. I couldn't help but wondering if the book wouldn't have been much different if Joe Royle hadn't been engaged in a lengthy legal battle with Manchester City, one of his previousl employers.
