She married Hans Gerth, a UW professor of sociology, and lived in Germany from 1971 until she returned to the US in 2007. She taught at UW as a TA and an instructor through the Extension Division, ran an Oriental shop on State Street in Madison, and worked as a conference interpreter while in Germany.
The stories of ups and downs of her life while she lived in three different cultures are fascinating and inspiring.
