I found a 1936 copy at a library sale and I've alway's wanted to read it. So much of history is being rewritten and who can defend themselves after they are dead? Enjoyed him as the speaker throughout and marveled at his candid explanations of how things came about. Imagine no one to loan you a book? It's hard to imagine educating my children without a library in the house, friends bookshelves and the local library. I think the Poor Richard's Almanac and it's hilarious maxims are my favorite things that Benjamin Franklin has contributed this world. (Yes, more important to me than the kite, library, bifocals, electricity, daylight saving time , etc). But I think that his autobiography is a close second mainly because I think the log he kept to track his ability to maintain moral perfection is an extremely interesting and challenging idea. Benjamin Franklin is such an intriguing character to me, his stories well worth the read, witty, smart, funny--he was really driven. I found his relationship with his son interesting and his
story of riding over the DE in a sinking boat had me cracking up (was it just for laughs, maybe, but his storytelling that entertaining), I gathered hints of his deeper personality but not as in depth as I intended.
