Ok, bad things first, this is probably the most hopelessly unstructured book that I've ever read. Early on Bob mentions about his ability to recount events with amazing clarity decades down the line and that comes across in the book though one would have hoped for it to be a bit more structured. Probably it has something to do with the fact that Bob Christo's life defied any established structures. He lived 3-4 lifetimes in one and leaves the reader with the feeling if everything mentioned in th

It is an interesting story because the writing makes the somewhat mundane come across as spectacular. There's a bit of brashness, a sense of hubris but more importantly enormous pride in having lived a full life.
