Really interesting stye. There's a "book within the book", which is a sci-fi alternate universe type of thing, and the story shifts back and forth between the fantasy world and the protagonist - a 20-something guy in New York who is sort of a Holden Caulfield character, only darker and more twisted. It's written very well, and you end up getting hooked up the twists and turns that Benjamin goes through in seemingly mundane daily activities, that Gordon describes with very unique prose.
Got great

Got great reviews from NYTimes Book Review, too!
