One of my major interests has been the blacklisting of suspected "reds" in the 1950s. Lester Cole was one of the Hollywood Nine (?), the group of "unfriendly witnesses" that refused to cooperate with HUAC. The result of which they went to prison.

A great first-hand account by someone who was there.
