As a die-hard Spurs fan, I had to read this when it first came out. I've always admired Gary Mabbutt, one of our most reliable and consistent players. Reading his autobiography gave me a whole new appreciation of the man. Mabbutt was a type 1 diabetic and had to give himself insulin shots before every game. He had to overcome so many barriers to become a professional footballer. That he was able to become such an important player for a big club like Tottenham Hotspur was truly against all odds.
Has written one of the most influential football columns in the country for more than three decades, where his work on Fleet Street has seen him awarded the British Sports Journalist of the Year award on two occasions
