No musical fan needs explaining who Max Cavalera is, if they know their stuff.
A really emotional tale of highs and lows, love death, addition and sobriety.
What makes it 'special' I guess is the added anecdotes by family members, fellow musicians and even Max's children.

Max seem to be honest in his (long awaited) biography, but it seemed to me that he didn't want to dive deeper in some matters. Sepultura's separation was barely touched, and his fight with Joao Gordo was not even mentioned. Anyway, the book is a very good reading for any metalhead, and a journey to the past.
Every metal fan should read this book. As a very early fan from sepultura I became very identified to the story and had in mind the soundtrack of all the albums as I was advancing through the book. Very easy reading and very powerful, the must notable is the human touch trough the whole book.
I've always loved Sepultura. The band logo was actually the very first tattoo I got!
While I know there are parts in this book that would be disagreed upon by other band members, I'm still curious about the stories, the relations within the band, and the powerful music.

I have been fascinated with the book expecting something different or more common within the books of musicians but this book is more human than human, a real gem for fans and it's also interesting to know the behind the music, now I enjoy more to Soufly before
It was an interesting look into his views and experiences. The translation however made his vocabulary seem extremely limited.
The story of Max Cavalera is one of the heavy metal biographies that I feel I've been waiting for the longest. The childhood in Brazil, the crazy rise of Sepultura, and everything that happened with his separation from that band, his is one of the more iconic careers in modern metal. There might be some that are disappointed in the relative brevity of My Bloody Roots but I can't say it bothered me too much. Loved this book !. I have been lucky enough to meet Max and Gloria whilst they where in Australia many years ago. Fantastic and honest account of his life. Amazing !
interesting read from the history of the metal, of the Sepultura and from the anthropological point of view, as Max is from Brasilia.
Bom livro, com boas histórias, nada muito novo para os fãs do Max Cavalera, mas mesmo assim é legal reviver as histórias pela ótica dele.

No se le escapa nada desde sus inicios con Sepultura hasta Killer be Killed; desde sus dramas personales y con Sepultura hasta el significado de cada disco con sus carátulas, canciones y anécdotas con todas las personalidades que se le han cruzado y colaborado en sus proyectos. Está muy bien escrita y cuidada en su secuencia, altamente recomendada no tan solo para los amantes de la carrera de Max sino para toda la comunidad metalera

Thoroughly enjoyed reading about Max's life and his family. I've been a big fan since the 90's and I gotta say, he's the reason for a lot of changes I made in my life. Especially the music he made with Soulfly.

This book makes me fall in love with Max's music all over again. I all of the sudden have a hankering for "Bloodshed" by Soulfly.
I wish Max had written more pages, just a few more. <3
