Good. A commendably straightforward read, and very straight talking throughout. Shearer shows commendable honesty - his family life, decisions to move clubs, and the impact of drink on his career - he functioned just fine with a few, but his stories of covering for Steve Paterson are brutally frank with hindsight.
Alongside this, it's one of the least 'footbally' memoirs - if you're looking for a touch by touch reconstruction of key goals (or others) this isn't the book for you. And is stronger
