Franklin is a surprise. He is able to tout his accomplishments; and OMG there were so many!, without seeming to be a braggart. There is a delightful simplicity to him, combined with a ceaseless curiousity and desire to do good for his fellow man. You probably know that he invented the 'Franklin stove'; an energy-efficient heating system which was far more efficient than the standard chimney and which used much less wood. What you may not know was the the Governor encouraged him to patent it, but he refused to do so. His intention was simply to help as many people as possible and did not desire to restrict it's use by keeping it's potential usefulness to himself.
Benjamin Franklin
was a writer, a philosopher, a scientist, a politician, a patriot, a Founding Father, an inventor, and publisher. He helped with the founding of the United States of America and changed the world with his discoveries about electricity. His writings such as
Poor Richards' Almanac
have provided wisdom for 17 years to the colonies.
