It took a page or so for me to be gripped by the narrative, but the casual and urnest way in which Mr. Dahlberg describes losses to fire and grasshoppers, and how he traded as a young man with the Native Americans of the region for pelts soon had me turning pages.
Definitely recommend.
I think this is a delightful, quick read that exemplifies what many immigrants experienced. There are loans at 24%, and milch-cows for $45 dollars. Good people and bad. If an instructor who is looking for a short discussion piece to add to a history lesson, you might want to consider this free work.
