Pepe: My Autobiography is the fascinating personal account of his rise to the top of the game. From winning the FA Cup, European Championship and World Cup, to the agony of a Champions League final defeat and surviving the off-pitch drama that tore one of the country’s greatest football clubs apart.
Pepe has witnessed first-hand the rise and fall of Rafa Benitez's Spanish revolution at Anfield and he gives his revealing insight on some amazing Kop glory nights as well as the controversial departures of compatriots Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres. He also speaks openly about the ill-fated reign of Roy Hodgson and the events that forced him to consider his Reds future before the arrival of new American owners and Kenny Dalglish’s celebrated return. Pepe paints a colourful portrait of his legendary Spanish team-mates and reveals how bittersweet experiences suffered by his goalkeeper father provided him with the personal inspiration to succeed. Away from the pitch, Pepe is a real family man who feels at home in Liverpool, and someone who likes to enjoy every day to the full.

I am a Liverpool FC fan, but I wasn't expecting to enjoy this. I expected some tedious drivel about growing up as a boy, kicking a ball around the streets of Madrid, going to Barca as a schoolboy and so on. Whilst there was some of that, it turned out to be well written and in the end I really warmed to Pepe Reina.
I admit that the prospect of some dirt being dished about Liverpool's notorious owners, Hicks and Gillet or the hapless manager Roy Hodgson, was my motivation for reading but it's too

I admit that the prospect of some dirt being dished about Liverpool's notorious owners, Hicks and Gillet or the hapless manager Roy Hodgson, was my motivation for reading but it's too close to the events for that from an autobiography. Still we were given some insight into the loss of some of the stars such as Alonso and Torres. Pepe's description of the emotions and aspirations of footballers is very incisive.
I was impressed with Pepe I must admit. He seems a thorough professional, and although he has had a few wobbly times at Liverpool, he is clearly dedicated to Liverpool and its football club, and I'm sure he will be around for a while - assuming he continues to play well of course!
I would recommend this for Liverpool fans as it does shed some light on the bad times we have gone through in the last few years..

Pepe was very candid in the book and talked about his whole career and some parts of his personal life as well. The difference he said between Spanish and English football was quite interesting. Most of all though, I find his words about Liverpool fans very moving. Recommended for Liverpool fans.
Brilliant, an honest insight into a genuinely nice family man. This book only strengthens his position as a Liverpool legend. A captivating read for LFC fans, even though it only covers up to the mid-point of Dalglish's return , therefore not taking in the Carling Cup win over Cardiff, or FA Cup defeat to Chelsea. Still very much worth a read.
