A really well-researched, tail-wagging page-turner following Terry, an abandoned cairn terrier who became the most famous dog in movie history. The tale is written from the first-person perspective of Terry, which is a real treat, and gives "Wizard of Oz" lovers a chance to look at the beloved classic in a whole new light, just in time for the film's 75th anniversary. There's tons of incredibly fun archive prints from "The Wizard of Oz" and the dozen or so other movies that Terry/Toto made, incl ...more

What is not to love about a little dog like Terry a.k.a. Toto?

This book is purportedly the autobiography of Terry, the dog who portrayed Toto. A metal box containing a scrapbook with the title "I, Toto" was supposedly found by Willard Carroll during expansion of the Ventura Freeway. If you can accept the premise that Toto actually wrote the book, it is cute and filled with Wizard of Oz memories as well as other Hollywood movie trivia.

I had been wanting to read this book for awhile now. I had seen it listed in a catalog and thought it looked interesting. Found this one at my local library. It had me from the start as the front and back inside cover pages are "autographed" from Toto's castmates from The Wizard of Oz. Very sweet. This is written from Toto's point of view as she, ***spoiler alert*** (Toto's a girl!!)makes her way from an unknown bit player, (sometimes just credited as "dog" in a movie)to one of the worlds best b ...more

I, Toto will appeal to Wizard of Oz devotees, dog lovers (Cairn Terrier aficionados, especially), and nostalgia buffs alike. It is presented as a scrapbook and provides a delightful look back at the career of the dog who listened to Judy Garland, as Dorothy, sing “Over the Rainbow”. Many photographs and memorabilia are shown as Terry/Toto narrates her story. The little Cairn was trained by famous Hollywood dog trainer Carl Spitz and appeared in many movies with stars such as Mickey Rooney, Jack ...more

Short and sweet. Cute and charming book with lots of pictures. Toto tells her story and the layout is like a scrapbook with lots of cute captions. Her real name was Terry.

Would highly recommend to anyone who likes The Wizard of Oz, dogs or old movies. Since I like all 3, the book was a real treat!
