Definitely worth a look -- especially if you're an animal lover.

This book is purportedly the autobiography of Terry, the dog who portrayed Toto. A metal box containing a scrapbook with the title "I, Toto" was supposedly found by Willard Carroll during expansion of the Ventura Freeway. If you can accept the premise that Toto actually wrote the book, it is cute and filled with Wizard of Oz memories as well as other Hollywood movie trivia.

To my surprise, Terry/Toto appeared in 18 movies. Apparently readying a dog for a movie part back then involved not only training, but on the day(s) of movie filming the dog would routinely receive a flea bath, a nail clipping, and an enema. Poor puppies!
The inside of the book is filled with autographs of some of Terry/Toto's co-stars. My favorite is from the Wicked Witch: "I'll get you my pretty! And give you a good petting."
I had been wanting to read this book for awhile now. I had seen it listed in a catalog and thought it looked interesting. Found this one at my local library. It had me from the start as the front and back inside cover pages are "autographed" from Toto's castmates from The Wizard of Oz. Very sweet. This is written from Toto's point of view as she, ***spoiler alert*** (Toto's a girl!!)makes her way from an unknown bit player, (sometimes just credited as "dog" in a movie)to one of the worlds best b

I, Toto will appeal to Wizard of Oz devotees, dog lovers (Cairn Terrier aficionados, especially), and nostalgia buffs alike. It is presented as a scrapbook and provides a delightful look back at the career of the dog who listened to Judy Garland, as Dorothy, sing “Over the Rainbow”. Many photographs and memorabilia are shown as Terry/Toto narrates her story. The little Cairn was trained by famous Hollywood dog trainer Carl Spitz and appeared in many movies with stars such as Mickey Rooney, Jack

Short and sweet. Cute and charming book with lots of pictures. Toto tells her story and the layout is like a scrapbook with lots of cute captions. Her real name was Terry.
