Wow I really couldn't put this book down, I have met the man himself and it was talking to my family about him and his story that led me to want to pick up his book. It was very graphic and precise and even reading it you wonder at times why he's writing this down for us to read and invade the thoughts that must be strong still in his nightmares but then I thought maybe this book was a good way for him to get it out (a little bit) of his system. He's a great man and what he has gone through in his life would make him a hero in any part of the world. And it's incredibly well written too, it wasn't simply the thoughts and feelings of a man who had suffered a horrendous attack but it's very well written and it keeps you wanting more. I read this in one sitting through the night and did not regret it. Everyone should read this once in their lives but I would not suggest it to young adults or below as it's very in depth at times.

A very humbling and emotional Simon Weston documents his brief but life-changing Army career. From his roots in Wales, the infamous burns suffered in the sinking of the Sir Galahad during the Falklands War and his subsequent extensive rehabilitation Walking Tall is a must read.

The writing style is very honest and gives the impression that writing the book was a much more difficult task than previously thought. It's a series of battles that Simon has come across in all walks of life that clearly revolves around his burns but shows his abilities in overcoming adversity.
It concludes with his views on his personal aims of finding a wife and living a 'normal' life and is incredibly honest.
What this books tells you is amazing and puts life into context. What Simon has experienced was horrific but the manner in which he has put others before himself is truly inspiring, focussing on supporting youngsters, the unemployed through life through adventure courses.

Couldn't put this book down. I've met the mad himself and he is so humble and amazing and I'm so glad he was able to write this story so we can all share in his experiences. Such an incredible life and I'm not one for autobiographies.
