I love the Durants. I read their elegant prose as though it were Biblical. I feel guilty if I don't read it slowly, savoring it. Remember your history books from school? How absolutely dry and boring they were? The Durants talk about the same thing and add a beautiful style to it. I always told myself, after I wolfed down their Story of Civilization, that I would read it again one day, carefully. I hope I still will.

Nothing like these two, nor like their work. You may already know them from their 11-volume Story of Civilization or other works. Here is their personal story, an amazing journey of love, scholarship, world travel, history, ideas... Unique, and wonderfully told.
