Oh my god, I'm so ashamed that I read this! So ashamed in fact that if I was a real monkey I'd probably be trying to hide my face under my tail right about now. In my defence I read this when I was working abroad for a long time and I'd run out of reading material. This was the only thing left on the dig-house book shelf aside from the Harry Potter series and week old copies of Hurriyet and Sabah (local newspapers).

So this is a sneak peak into what it means to be Jordan. Her highs, her lows, her loves and her general over exposure (on many levels) to the public via the medium of magazine, newspaper, television and now her own line of fiction! Eek! I don't actually dislike Jordan or really get annoyed about her toddling along undoing years of hard feminist labour. She has found a tidy niche for herself and that's all good. If she considered running for Prime Minister then I'd probably have to step up and object but for now all is well.
Lots of people have very strong opinions about her and her chosen career and lifestyle. The people who have these opinions are normally women who are then subdivided into two groups:
Group 1 says: Setting back the feminist cause by about 1001 light years
Group 2 says: A savvy business woman who uses her physical assets to systematically sever the public from their cash in an efficient and bubbly manner while harming no one.
There is also a third group who just want to be her.
I would have liked this better if it had been presented in a statistical format rather than a narrative. I do like a good statistic.
For example things I would be interested in knowing:
Number of false eye lashes used in a year : 3112
Most pairs of false eye lashes ever worn in one go: 17
Number of miles of spandex in wardrobe: 11.2
Number of gallons of fake tan applied throughout career: 59.5
Biggest number of diamantes ever worn in one go: 32,000
**Disclaimer all statistics above are entirely fabricated for the benefits of this review and in no way reflect the truth. If anyone can give me the actual stats though that would be fab!

I think it's because Britain is smaller, and average-faced, orange-tanned, fake-boobed pinups get more exposure, and take up more space (and record albums and go on TV and amass media fortunes). In America there are so many castes and tiers standing between the lad mag bimbo, the wank-model, and the full limelight of A-list fame (whenever I see pictures of Posh & Becks, I always wonder: these are their biggest stars? Really?). Not so in Britain: this Jordan person showed her tits on Page 3 and in Maxim, slept with some footballers and boom she's having her musings and make-up-less family candids published in a glossy hardcover coffee-table book. That's kind of hilarious. This book is good for just a skim, but it's a funny skim. My favorite was the picture of her with Dwight Yorke on a Monte Carlo red carpet--in the caption she identifies her hideous outfit as 'the pink satin trouser-suit I agonized over.'

“So who am I?”
It’s a tricky one, I must admit. Who exactly is this woman? This media phenomenon. Well, my first thought to Katie is that I hope she does know or this book of yours is going to be fairly dull. Oh, that’s right. You didn’t write it, did you? Rebecca Farnworth did. In fact, she has written all of her tomes. But you wouldn’t think of it from looking at her books. They, like Jade’s book and curiously omit her completely. A Rebecca is thanked in this book, for ‘her help’ and one can only assume that is her.
In consequent future projects incidentally, Rebecca is not only thanked but given co-authorship. Isn’t it amazing how much a few million book sales can help a ghosting career?
Sorry Katie, carry on... Who are you?
“The Jordan of the tabloids who doesn’t seem to give a toss and only cares about fame and partying? Or Katie Price, the successful model and single mum who is trying to make the best of things?”
Now, I wonder which of those you want us to think you are?
Well, as you have given me the opportunity to judge you in the first couple of sentences, I will....
The success and clear absurdity of Jordan as an author epitomised the book industry in 2007, an industry less concerned about producing quality goods, more one of profit and market share. The words ‘market share’ diddles the pooter of company executives and shareholders across the world. But we know that quality and tradition and promoting the literal word doesn’t concern these people. They don’t care what sells unless it sells and sells as much as possible.
This is good for someone like Jordan as her image is very marketable. Her prescence in the social conscious via the mass media makes her a very viable commodity. Not bad for someone who is essentially, a pair of breasts. Let’s not beat around the bush about why she has transcended other ‘glamour models’ of her genre. Those that harp and whine that she is a human being and so much more than an avert for Hooters, is kidding themselves as Jordan proves with every single one of her ventures that she clearly lacks the talent to be anything else but that.
Her books have all been ghostwitten and she has even admitted the extent of her very non-contribution. Her overproduced and tweaked album failed to have any impact in the charts and everytime she has popped up on TV at any length, she has proved to be not only very dull indeed but has shown absolutely no fondness of character or has anything constructive, inspiring or worthwhile to say.
But hey, that’s my initial impression. Perhaps you can win me round with two back to back ghostwritten memoirs.
Or not. Immediately, she goes straight for the jugular. From “parents split sympathy vote” headlong right into “flaunting of worth”, do these people know how to get on the wrong side of the public, or what?
It is nothing but arrogance to list how many houses, horses and Bentleys she owns like it justifies either her existance or or it seems, her intelligence.
“I didn’t get all that by being a dumb bimbo.”
Right. I’m going to hold back on the cynicism for now.
So how did Jordan ‘get all that’ then?
“I’ve worked for everything I have got.”
Ahhh, that old celebrity biography chestnut. How I have missed you so.
It’s really not about that though, is it? For example, I have worked for everything I have got. I haven’t got very much. Damn sight less than you, in fact. As to whether I have worked harder than you? I’ve certainly worked longer than you. So is that fair? Is that a justification for what you are worth? Not at all. You were blessed in the gene pool, that’s all. You are lucky, right person in the right place.
“It has been claimed that I’m obsessed with fame and will do anything for publicity.”
Anything? Yes, absolutely far from the truth Katie, I completely disagree. I mean, how dare they say you would go to such extremes. It’s not as if you would name your new baby alter your new book or turn up to a Harrods book signing in a cristal carraige pulled by half naked men or anything, would you?
Katie’s first book seems to be just a series of doomed relationships and encounters with the opposite sex. Each one increasingly more volitile and turbulent and filled with all sorts of templated celebrity biography emotions. With each man she meets (and we get a gladiator, a f1 racing driver and a boy band member to name a few), she welcomes each time a more awful person than the last, finishing up having a baby with a cheating and uncaring shit of a Premiership football star. There are signs of incredibly bad foresight and questionable behaviour too on her behalf. She seems to be forever looking to jump on one horse while she is riding another to the finish line.
The mistakes she makes in regards to her selection of partners are the size of Ulrika Jonsson proportions. She really does choose them, as she reminds us in italics constantly, another continuing annoying trait I am finding of this genre.
It’s really off putting, more than the drivel she is spouting but certainly not as frustrating in constantly coming across Katie’s own favoured paragraph ender. Just as Victoria Beckham had her, “I told you so” Katie has variations of “It could only happen to me”, mostly surrounding the cacophony of illnesses herself and her child come across. Here you can sympathise but when she tags it onto the end of some incident where she herself has been sneaky and two timing, the sympathy for the main character pretty much dies and you are left telling her to yourself to get a life when in actual fact, the troubles she goes through with a heavily disabled child are nothing to disrespect.
Her courage and resolve with Harvey, her first child sadly ignored by the father, is nothing but something to applaud. That’s where it stops though because aside from all of the shit she has been dragged through in the cards she has been dealt from fate, her relationships and how much she justifies her means and defends her position during each break up, there is a sense of incredibly bad Jordan behaviour that we have come to believe of her in her tabloid image whether she likes it or not.
She has cheated on men. When she hasn’t cheated on men, she has sneaked around with them to the point that they become so insanely jealous they turn into the ignomious, misogynistic, desperate for exposure pigs that they really are.
I certainly know how to pick them. It could only happen to me.
Now, I’m a boob man like most guys and there is no question that Katie was a beautiful girl in the old days. Her breast size was perfect the way it was and it complimented what was the perfect figure.
Katie believes that bigger is better and goes into much detail about exactly why, discussing the many theoretical arguements for and against before outlining the psychosexual history of the male brain.
Actually, I’m kidding,
“I knew I would look sexier with bigger boobs, and I was right.”
Katie is a pretty girl and as much as she believes she has to rely on the Jordan bollocks, she doesn’t. It’s all very crass and a bit old.
I can see why this book was a success. Unfortunately, a lot of publishers didn’t think so at the time and cerimoniously the very idea of the book was royally turned down by every major publisher. A bitter pill that was probably hard to swallow when it topped the bestseller charts. It fitted an unoccupied slot that has since grown into a lucrative sub-market that has risen up from its shallow and desperate exterior. That of ‘Red Top Publishing’, the extension of the exclusive magazine article, an addition to the initial sensationalism, the very subject we are taking the time out here for a whole year to explore.
That’s right, in many ways, this book is the quintessential ghostwritten celebrity autobiography. Maybe not the first. Definately not the last. But the surprising (and annoying to some) success of this book paved the way for a higher demand for the ghostwriter. They in many ways, have Katie Price or at least her shrewd publisher to thank for keeping them in biros.
But what of this character, this plastic Barbie, this raging mega-boobed publicity whore?
In a market where constant and intrusive exposure is key and unfortunately for the subject, essential, we have long reached a point where as long as people manage to stay interested in Price/Jordan and they manage to keep up this pretence that she is in anyway the creator of her products and they keep the supply of bread and water to the chained Rebecca Farnworth in Price’s luxurious Sussex mansion, the only way is up for the branded, multimedia enigma that is Jordan.
That is until she goes on Big Brother and starts dishing out the racial slurs, that is.

Taking her my childhood up to the birth of her first child, it's the story of a withdrawn, sad and lonely little girl who grew up to be a sad and lonely young woman who hid herself behind the sexual sheen of a pumped-up Page 3 girl. Looking at pictures of her in her first modelling shots and seeing a vivacious, bright, good looking girl whilst reading the text saying about how unhappy she felt being flat-chested and plain is quite painful. Worth a read to see the person behind the fakery, I'd give anything else she's "written" a wide berth though.

Born Katie Infield in Brighton, Jordan's problems with men started when she was three years old and her father, who hadn't really been around much, left for good. Her home life was to become a little more stable after her mother remarried, and the surname she now uses, Price, is that of her stepfather.
Although she denies it had any impact on her growing up, this is a story of failed relationships with men. Her attempts to become a model led her into a dangerous professional relationship with an amateur photographer who turned out to be a paedophile. From there on, it's her personal relationships that failed to go well, as she lurched from one disaster to another even as her dream career came true.
This means is that the book is mostly concerned with these two aspects of her life. There are brief mentions of her family and her time before she became a model, but they seem to be largely glossed over as if Jordan's eager to get them out of the way to get to what she feels is the real meat of the story. This is fine, if all you read is the Sun and News of the World or footballers' biographies.
For the more discerning reader amongst us, however, it proves to be a dreadful let down. Anyone hoping that Katie Price would be lifting the lid on her thoughts and feelings about life and telling about the bits that didn't make the tabloids as they happened before she ever became Jordan will be dreadfully disappointed. There is virtually nothing here that has not featured in one tabloid newspaper or another, even if it is written from a slightly different point of view.
Of course, it's unlikely that anyone looking to buy Jordan's autobiography is going to be expecting any great work of literature. That being the case, it's a great read. It's written in the language of the tabloids, which is to say in pretty simple language. It's the closest you can come to having a no-brainer in a book.
When somebody lives their life very much in the public eye, or in the pages of the tabloids, you have to expect that much of their life will have already been published elsewhere. But you would hope that when they do come to tell their side of the story, they would tell you the bits that didn't make the press. Jordan doesn't do that, merely treading over old ground. The only major difference between what is here and what is in the tabloids is that it's completely one sided, with Jordan being the victim and making out that the only thing she has ever done wrong is to make a few unwise choices.
The whole thing is wildly self indulgent and strangely lacking in emotion. Sure, we're hearing all about Jordan's love, or at least sex, life but there's little that involves you in the story. You can't really get emotionally involved when she falls in love and it's virtually impossible to feel her pain when she's treated badly of when things go wrong. It's only when she talks of her son Harvey that she seems to be emotionally involved in her own life in any way.
None of my preconceptions about Jordan were changed in reading "Being Jordan". I didn't get the impression that she was Katie Price inside and Jordan was just a suit she wore for work. Although she seems like a caring mother and someone who is desperately in need of reassurance and attention, this doesn't really come as a surprise. Before reading this book, I'd thought of Jordan as someone who thrives on the attention and will do whatever it takes to get it. This hasn't changed.
Like many hardback books, "Being Jordan" is ridiculously overpriced. But it seems even worse this time around, when you think that for the RRP of £16.99 you could buy 56 copies of The Sun, which would provide you with a higher, if not more intelligent word count and probably contain more about Jordan than this book does.
It's only something you should be reading if you're a particular fan of Jordan, as if you're someone who just enjoys gossip in general, you could have got all this from the tabloids and if you like reading biographies for the insights into a person's life they can provide, you'll be horribly let down by "Being Jordan", as it has none.
Incidentally, if you're a bloke hoping to buy it for pictures of Jordan in various states of undress, I wouldn't bother there, either. Certainly the hardback copy only had a couple from her Page 3 days, which is before she started having the operations. If that's all you're after, you'd be better off flicking through the pictures in the shop and returning the book to the shelf.
I will readily admit to being a Sun reader, despite knowing I really shouldn't be, but as no real fan of Jordan herself, even I found this to be dumbed down and lacking in any real insight. At least in the Sun, I could skip to the sports pages, but in "Being Jordan", all I can do is skip to where she's having a relationship with a footballer.
In much the same way that a Beano Annual takes your favourite characters from the comic and puts them all together in a hard cover, so "Being Jordan" is the equivalent of a Sun Annual. It gives you the same characters, acting in the same way, and gives them to you in one large chunk that you'll soon tire of.
Indeed, the only saving grace to the hardback copy of "Being Jordan" I read is this. I borrowed it from a colleague, so reading it didn't cost me a penny - which is about what its worth - and I can give it back and put it completely out of my mind, which will take all of thirty seconds.
I've always liked Jordan and really enjoyed her book I can't believe what she's put up with, with the guys she has dated glad her and Peter seem so great together she deserves happiness.

I think I must have read a different book to everyone else as I was not impressed with this book at all!
I've never been 'for' or 'against' Jordan, but whilst this book definitely makes her appear more human (especially the bits about Harvey) and you can genuinely feel for her being in the position of single mum to a child with such difficulties, the rest of it was mainly a list of her sexual or near-sexual encounters. It would have been interesting to learn more about her life before she was famous.
I've often felt sorry for her for having so many kiss and tells done in the papers about her, but it was difficult to continue feeling bad for her when she mentions (often) the comparative sizes of her lovers' willies and their performances in bed. She can't slate other people for making money out of her when she herself is making money - and probably far more - from writing about them.

i've never really considered myself an avid reader of autobiographies, i do enjoy some but tend to stray away from them.

Okay, firstly I read this as I was curious to who the 'real' Jordan was. What I wasn't expecting was for near enough every chapter to be about which man she was sleeping with and how big his willy was!! I think the 'funniest' of these moments was when she said she wouldn't slag of Dwight Yorke for her sons sake then proceeds to do so for many pages. This book, in my opinion, has done absolutely nothing to change my mind about her, it has just made me see her even more so as a petty, big headed little girl.

I only read this because my sister-in-law was reading and said it was really good and you get to know her more, meaning she's not like what the press say.
To be honest I didn't really think that much of it.
As much as I dislike this woman, I remember reading this when I was much younger and really enjoying the insight into her life. Good biography, horrible woman.
I was intrigued to read Katie Price's biographies after watching her reality show. I found that this was a good read and very well written. Highly recommend.
Surprisingly a good read. I'm not a fan of Jordan at all but read the book to see who she dished the dirt on and she did just that! A few people felt her wrath including Gareth Gates for denying that he had a fling with her.It was interesting to read about her early career and decision to go for the breast enlargements which certainly did launch her career. I read this when a friend recommended it and subsequently leant me the book. I have to say this changed my view on Jordan. It gives a good insight into her life thus far and why she's done the things she's done. You can say what you like about her, but she proves in this book that she's a good businesswoman, and has an incredible drive to succeed. What also comes across in this book, is how much she adores her son Harvey. I really enjoyed reading this, although I haven't been tempted to pick up

I read this book after Katie Price was in the jungle and I thought that maybe she was misunderstood. I read it fairly quickly - not exactly rocket science material! It is a very open account of Katie's early life and it brought things to light that perhaps explain a few things. I did not go on to read any more of her books however as the more her private life was paraded shamelessly in the press by herself I lost interest. A woman who bases her life on her greed for media attention it would seem

I read this a few years ago now and at the time I quite enjoyed it- but found her very dislikeable.
I do not like Jordan. I think she's a good mum and an amazing businesswoman (perhaps I'm a little jealous of the millions she has in the bank) but I find her brash, blunt to the point of being rude, and money-grabbing. Selling your kids to OK magazine week in week out is shameful, in my opinion.
However, back to the book. A fairly interesting read, but nothing jaw-dropping. She seemed very honest.
im not a fan of jordan I dont have any interest in her, but I found almost every chapter in this book about men...or whatever man she was seeing at the time!! which made me think can this woman function without a man? can she ever just be happy with who she is on her own?? obviously not.....poor thing, more to be pitied than talked about!!! by the way, I read this book because my sis brought it on hols and for wk 2 I had nothing to read......have ereader this year :D:D
Although I love Katie Price, I must say I was a little confused. It's either she doesn't know herself or someone else wrote it for her. Some things just didn't ring true and I feel a book like this needs to be completely honest. Still love Katie, will read her other books
Sped read through this book in a few hours and swallowed it whole. I really enjoyed reading all about the adventures of Katie Price and appreciate her honest "tell it how it is" style.
Yes it's a whole lot of kiss n tells but it's absolutely fascinating.
I didn't have the edition with the Peter Andre romance and wedding update sadly - but there were still more than enough love affairs and flings to keep me happy.

Born as Katie Infield in Brighton, East Sussex, England on May 22 1978, I changed my last name to Price when my mother Amy remarried. I have an older brother, Daniel, and a younger sister, Sophie.
Although I had many interests when I was younger, a friend suggested that I should pursue a modeling career. So I sent a few shots to an agency and was taken on. I attended loads of castings, had my fair share of negative responses then one day, in a studio next to where I was working, a model failed to turn up for a shoot. The photographer asked around if anyone would be interested in doing a topless shoot… and the rest, as they say, is history!
My topless modeling career took off in 1996 when I appeared in The Sun as part of the ‘Page 3′ pictorial. The legendary section of the tabloid features a different girl each day posing topless. I was the first topless model to grace the Page 3 for a whole week – fully dressed on a Monday, then each day revealing more and more untill Friday – full topless. The exposure boosted my career and I soon became one of the UKs most famous models, under the pseudonym ‘Jordan.’
From there on I graced many magazine front covers , not just in the UK but also across Europe. My popularity soon reached even further afield and I posed for Playboy, landing on the front cover of the September 2002 issue.
I have been through many well-publicised relationships. And my illnesses, including the removal of a tumor from one of my fingers and complications with my pregnancies and family, have been very public.
