A slander tells the story of its life. Beginning as somewhat innocent remark made in an elegant drawing room, the slander soon develops into a piece of malicious gossip. As people suggest that a foreign gentleman quite at home in England is a Nihilist, the newly-born slander has developed to where it may cause his ultimate downfall.
