Overview

The autobiography of the founder of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra. Edited and with an introduction by his son, Bob Norman, Maestro Norman tells his life story, beginning with his childhood and early education in Norway up through his emigration to America and 55 years living and working in New London, Connecticut. While working for Electric Boat, a manufacturer of submarines in Southeastern Connecticut, he founded the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra and the National Senior Symphony, co-founded the William Billings Institute of American Music, and was intrumental in the creation of the Connecticut Commission of the Arts, Inc. Still active at 94, he actively researches music and musical organizations via the internet from his home in New Jersey.
