INTRODUCTION TO "CALL EARL OF ALASKA"

Born a child to a single mother struggling through the early years of the Great Depression, by the age of ten he lived in eleven different homes. By the age of fifteen, this juvenile found himself in a reformatory institution in the state of Pennsylvania. A rough road was traveled by this troubled youth until he was released to serve in the U.S. Army at age 18. He was shipped to the South Pacific at the end of World War II.

Returning to the states did not go well for this man of 22 years who suddenly found himself in a federal prison in Ohio. He later found himself in the chain gang of the North Carolina prison system. But within ten years, he organized a union company in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.

What changed this man who becomes a manager with the World Wide Bowling Corp. to owning his own business?

Suddenly he meets the right woman, they get married, and head off to Alaska. Few people knew of his past troubles, not even his wife, for many years.

Upon arriving in Anchorage, the former "criminal" becomes a model citizen coaching and managing Babe Ruth and American Legion baseball teams and, under the sponsorship of the Boys Clubs of Alaska, he helps to develop a city wide basketball program for over 20 years. He created the High School Baseball Program and the Thursday night professional boxing program.

At the same time during the 29 years, he becomes a very successful small business person iconized as "Call Earl of Alaska." From a lost youth to a youth motivator, from a chain gang to business leader.

A fascinating book you will not place on the shelf until completely read. A true American rags to riches life story.
