Hal Jackson and his wife Debi B. Jackson hosted together the Hal Jackson "Sunday Classics" on WBLS, a #1 rated show in New York City every Sunday for over twenty-five years. During his broadcasting career, Harold "Hal" Jackson made numerous contributions to the African-American community. As an icon and an activist, Hal rose to the pinnacle of his profession by becoming one of the nation's leading entertainment and broadcasting industry executives. Hal Jackson is the first African American inducted into the Broadcast Hall of Fame, the first African American inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame, a National Association of Black-owned Broadcasters honoree, and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. Hal Jackson was the executive producer and host of the Hal Jackson's Talented Teens International Scholarship Competition (HJTTI) for more than thirty years, created through his Youth Development Foundation, Inc. to "inspire leadership for the future." This scholarship competition for young women with its local, regional and international programs touched over 30,000 young ladies, helping to develop socially conscious young women as leaders, professionals and entertainers.
