Overview

One of the most significant books on the early history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints is Autobiography of Parley P. Pratt. Elder Pratt served as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles from 1835 until his death in 1857, having been ordained under the hands of Joseph Smith, Oliver Cowdery, and David Whitmer. He was intimately associated with the leaders of the Church, and his history is interwoven with that of the Church itself. In addition to his autobiography, Elder Pratt wrote nemerous pamphlets and tracts, books, hymns, poems, and articles, each designed to promote faith and enlighten the minds of the Saints and investigators.
