Elder Pratt served as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles from 1835 until his death in 1857, having been ordained under the hands of Joseph Smith, Oliver Cowdery, and David Whitmer. He was intimately associated with the leaders of the Church, and his history is interwoven with that of the Church itself.
